Applications of Having a Good Shooting Form

Having a good shooting form is one of the most important skills a basketball player can have. On the last page, you learned how to shoot the ball in two scenarios: when you are simply catching the ball and shooting it, or when you are stepping into the shot. However, a basketball player can be in harder situations than that. For example, if there is a defender guarding them and they can't immediately shoot when they get the ball, they might need to use the step-back move, which is when they dribble past their defender and hop backwards to create space. In any of these scenarios, they will need to use a good shooting form to make the shot.

Step-back gif
This is a step-back, as mentioned in the paragraph above. The player that is taking the shot is Stephen Curry, a player on the Golden State Warriors, who is the greatest shooter one of the best ball-handlers of all time. The image credit goes to Imgflip. Steph Curry is doing a crossover, which is where you fake dribbling in one direction and go in another direction. Curry wouldn't have been able to make the shot if not for his exemplary shooting form, so this is an application of being a good shooter. Video credit goes to Youtube.
