Hi, everyone! My name is Sasha, and I'm in Pinewood junior high. It's a little awkward because I am probably the youngest in the grade. My birthday for the year is all the way in next August, but I don't mind. I have three younger siblings. They're the ones who got the good birthdays. One of them was born right on Valentine's Day! I live in California, USA. My parents are from Russia and Ukraine, while me and all my siblings were born here. I'm Jewish through my mother's side, and I'm fiercely...ANTI-anti-Semitism. Nice to meet you!
I have a ton of hobbies. If I had to list them all, though, I'd put reading at the top. After reading would come being outside. I've loved nature all my life, and by third grade I was set on being an entomologist. I still am, actually. As a translation for normal people who aren't animal nerds, that's someone who studies insects. I am a devoted bug person, and yes, I know I'm also a complete weirdo. But hey, with creatures like the botfly, the mole cricket, the glasswing butterfly, and the click beetle around, how could I resist? I swear you have to go here to learn more about the botfly because it is so cool!!! But if you get grossed out or traumatized for life, I'll understand.
Another hobby that's been going on for a long time is violin. It started at age seven. I'd already been asking my parents for some time to sign me up for violin classes, and I kind of think they gave in because they thought I'd see how hard it is and give up. But I didn't, and here I am, a five-year violinist. My playing simply bloomed when I learned to pick up by ear. Right now, my favorite song on the violin is probably "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" or "In My Life", both by the Beatles.
