Space Bar Tape Mod

A lot of keyboard mods are expensive and difficult to accomplish. Tape modding the spacebar of the keyboard is a mod that does not require much effort and costs little. This tape mod is often used to quieten and dampen the sound of the space bar, which makes it so that it does not interrupt the sound of the keyboard every time the space bar is pressed. It also makes the sound less hollow, so that it sounds more similar to the other keys. Below is a tutorial on how to tape mod a space bar.

Materials:

• Keyboard (hot-swappable)
• Keycap puller
• Masking tape

Tutorial:

1. Remove the spacebar.
2. Cut out pieces of masking tape.
3. Add a layer of the tape to the underside of the space bar.
4. Repeat. (More tape = quieter sound. I recommend 2-3 layers)
5. Reattach the space bar.
