Before We Begin: What is a goldfish?
A goldfish is a species of fish most commonly found in freshwater lakes, ponds, or rivers. It is among the smallest of fish, only being about 20 cm at full growth. These fish have been cultivated for over 1,000 years, since the days of ancient China. Although this may sound good, as you can get all kinds of specially bred goldfish, (albeit, still a true statement) in reality, it inhibits some goldfish from reproduction. The fish must be "hand stripped" in order to properly breed and reproduce their kin. With a lifespan of about ten to fifteen years, it is one of the best options for a pet fish, along with the "Betta Fish" and the "guppie." The goldfish's small size and cheap cost make it much better than other pets, like a dog or cat, which needs hundreds of dollars of food and toys.

a goldfish should have a respectable amount of food, not too much and not too little. Additionally, a fish should not eat outside the water, they might swallow some air and get issues in their gills. The food that the fish eat is also an important factor. Goldfish can eat both meat and plants, so giving them a mix of both is crucial for a balanced diet. (Video below shows many items for food)
Water quality is very important. If the water is low quality, the goldfish might die from toxic and unhealthy conditions. About every 2 weeks, you should replace some of the dirtiest water in the tank, in order to keep the water balanced and healthy for the goldfish. Photo curtesy of Reddit (r/oddlysatisfying)
A goldfish should not be paired with fish that are "boisterous" and unruly. Goldfish like to dwell inside of peaceful and unchanging enviorments. If there are other fish constantly bothering them, they will grow unhappy and start to eat less. Photo curtesy of PangoVet
